Since the first episode in 2022, Callstack’s podcast has been known as The React Native Show Podcast. For a long time, this made perfect sense. With Callstack specializing in React Native and co-creating this technology from the start, it was only natural for the podcast to discuss all things React Native.
With time, though, Callstack needed to expand its services and positioning to keep growing at a fast pace. One answer to this need was a rebranding that took place in the autumn of 2023. Callstack started positioning itself as a Total Software Engineering Consultancy and expanding our focus from React Native to the entire React Universe, which stands for all technologies with React (philosophy) at their core.
A few months later, our flagship conference, React Native EU, transformed into React Universe Conf. This took us one step closer to consistency in not only the names but also the topics covered at the event.
Callstack’s podcast seemed unaffected by the change, but only on the surface. While the name and pitch stayed closely linked to React Native, we started discussing some more varied topics, which at times even went beyond React and tackled app development in general.
Going beyond React Native in podcast episodes
That’s why in May 2024, I pitched the idea of rebranding The React Native Show Podcast. As part of the rebranding process, I was in charge of planning the process, building and leading the project team, and launching the new brand. The process took three months, during which my team:
- came up with the new name
- created brand new key visual and a dedicated illustration
- composed custom music
- redesigned podcast website
- recorded and released promotional materials to inform the audience about the change
- adjusted podcast goals and revised the publication plan

The rebranding process culminated in the release of the first episode recorded under the new name on the first day of React Universe Conf 2024 in September.
